Why I Was In Market

It all started with an email from my daughter's preschool. Someone had contracted lice in their hair and by law parents need to be made aware. Growing up I remember shampoos were marketed at ridding the parasites but not before they spread to other members of the household. Even my sister was plagued by them when her kids brought home these unpleasant buggers. As parents, that's one more thing we that we really don't have the time or energy to worry about. So as educated parents we set out to find an easy to use prevention solution. Are you looking for the best daily hair conditioning spray for your kids?

Research

After a bit of research as to what type of product I would need. My primary evaluation factors had me focusing on a safe, but effective shampoo or spray for my daughter. While she's only allergic to shellfish, we wanted to play it safe. For something that would be in her hair every day, we didn't want added chemicals while she's developing.

There are a ton of products out there that are organic, non-organic, shampoos, conditioners, sprays, combs, etc... Too much. I wanted something that was going to be part of the routine. Since our daughter showers in the evening, we felt a shampoo or conditioner wouldn't be effective for preventing lice after a period of sleep and rubbing it all over her pillow.

Selecting the Right Brand

There are a few large brands out there that sell lice prevention sprays and products such as Babo Botanicals and Paul Mitchell Tea Tree and we could have gone that route. But with every evaluation we look to find the a brand that focuses on hair products that are safe and effective for kids. They are carried at Target which gives us reassurance that this product isn't just mass produced to sell into the Amazon marketplace. With so many great reviews on Target and Amazon, we were confident in trying the Fairy Tales Rosemary Spray.

The Product

After the first spray, the first impression I had was that the smell was very strong and had a bit of aversion towards it. My wife and daughter actually quite enjoyed it. Fast forward 5 months after purchase and using it daily, I've grown to enjoy the smell and when I go to kiss my daughter, that's the smell I associate with her now. While a minor factor, something that was going to be on her every day for many years, it's important that you like it. The smell evaluation factor checks out.

Now the most important factor in this purchase - will it prevent lice? The proof is in the pudding as they say and having been aware of several lice outbreaks in our daughters school we are beyond happy that those bugs haven't found their way onto her head. While they market the product as a conditioning spray, the welcomed outcome is that it's help detangle her hair. Just a few sprays every morning around her head allows us to easily brush through all the tangles the tossing and turning in bed created. The detangling evaluation factor checks out.

Room for Improvement?

After using this product for several months now, it's really hard to find any flaws with it. You won't find me giving anything a perfect 10, probably because I'm a harsh critic, but this is up there. If I had to pick an area that they could improve, i'd say it's the pump spray trigger. As it's created to be a misting spray, I find it hard to aim it at certain problem spots in my daughter's hair. If they would include a spray that allows you to mist or stream, that would be ideal. Certainly not a deal breaker.

Bottom Line

It's a safe and solid choice for primarily detangling and conditioning my daughters hair that we use daily. After several lice outbreaks in her pre-school, we are happy to report that our daughter hasn't once contracted them. Winning all around!
